Chakas Rock at a glance
Heading North from Ballito along the coastal road one will reach Thompson’s Bay at Chakas Rock. There you will find "Charlie's Pool", an Olympic size tidal pool built by one of the early settlers. There are secluded beaches, rocky coves and shallow paddling pools to offer endless hours of fun. The hole-in-the-wall is located at the beach, which is a natural rock formation caused by the erosion from the sea. High Rock is situated at Thompson’s Bay, where King Shaka’s warriors were reputed to have leapt from the surging waves below to test their courage. The sandy stretch of beach, tidal pool and rocky cliffs make an ideal spot for a tranquil holiday.
